Dimethyl bromoterephthalate is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of aromatic hydrocarbons. It is used as an additive in paint, plastics, and rubber. Dimethyl bromoterephthalate has been shown to inhibit the activity of efflux pumps, which are proteins that pump drugs out of cells. This inhibition leads to accumulation of these drugs in the cell and increased effectiveness. Dimethyl bromoterephthalate has also been shown to be an allosteric modulator for viruses such as hepatitis C, influenza A, and SARS coronavirus. Dimethyl bromoterephthalate binds to specific regions on their surface and increases their infectivity. The binding site for this compound is carboxy-terminal domain (CTD) located at the end of the protein.END>
