3,5-Dichlorothioanisole is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of hydroxylase inhibitors. It inhibits the cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are involved in the metabolism of drugs and other compounds in the body. 3,5-Dichlorothioanisole is used to reduce levels of sulfide in the brain and liver by inhibiting their synthesis. The use of this drug has been found to be safe for humans, with no major side effects reported so far. This drug also has an effect on congenital methyl sulfone reductase deficiency. 3,5-Dichlorothioanisole is detectable in blood and tissues after oral administration as well as when administered intravenously or intraperitoneally.
