• Description: 1-Benzyl-2-(piperazin-1-yl)-1H-1,3-benzodiazole is a 5HT agonist that has been shown to stimulate the synthesis of collagen and α1 acid glycoprotein in human serum. It also has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in cell culture. This drug may have an effect on the production of fibrinogen, which is a protein involved in blood clotting. 1-Benzyl-2-(piperazin-1-yl)-1H-1,3 benzodiazole also binds to peptides and inhibits their binding to receptors on the surface of cells. The binding prevents the activation of these receptors by peptide ligands, which may lead to decreased levels of certain growth factors such as IGF or EGF.
