Euphorbia factor L3 is a potent inhibitor of cell proliferation that belongs to the class of diterpenes. It is found in the plant Euphorbia factor L3 and has been shown to have potent inhibitory effects on cancer cells. The extract has been shown to be effective against cervical cancer cells and also inhibits the growth of multidrug-resistant tumor cells. This compound was purified from plants and identified as a novel inhibitor of DNA synthesis, G1 phase progression, and protein synthesis. It inhibits the activity of topoisomerase II, which is an enzyme that maintains the integrity of DNA by uncoiling and re-coiling it when necessary. Euphorbia factor L3 binds to topoisomerase II at specific sites and prevents it from carrying out its functions.
