Description :
PRL-3 inhibitor I is a chemical inhibitor that binds to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) and inhibits its activity. This inhibition of PTP by PRL-3 inhibitor I prevents activation of the interleukin-2 receptor, which is necessary for cell proliferation. This agent has been shown to be effective in vitro against various cancer cell lines, including myeloma cells. In vivo studies have also shown that this compound may inhibit prostate cancer growth in animal models. The biological function of PRL-3 is not known, but it may play a role in regulating cell proliferation or apoptosis.
