Bis(7-methyloctyl)cyclohexyl-1,2-dicarboxylate is a plasticizer that has been shown to have genotoxic effects in animal studies. It is metabolized by hydrolysis and oxidation to form mono-, di-, and trihydroxylated products. The main metabolites of bis(7-methyloctyl)cyclohexyl-1,2-dicarboxylate are the monohydroxylated product 2,4,6-trimethylbenzoic acid (TMB), or 1,2-bis-(7-(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyloxy)heptyl)-cyclohexane; the dihydroxylated product 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB); and the trihydroxylated product 3-(3'-trihydroxypropoxy)phenol (THP).
