RU-SKI 43 binds to the ribosomal protein S6, preventing its interaction with the ribosomal protein S6 kinase and thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. This leads to cell death. RU-SKI 43 has also been shown to have anti-cancer properties against other types of cancer cells.
