• Description: L-Phenylalanyl-D-valyl-L-valyl-D-tyrosinamide is a high purity and potent activator of ion channels. It binds to the ligand binding site of the receptor, eliciting a conformational change that causes channel opening. This compound has been used in research as a tool for investigating the role of ion channels in membrane excitability. LPAVLT has been shown to induce calcium influx by activating voltage gated calcium channels and to activate potassium channels. This drug is also an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase, which may account for its antihypertensive effects. LPAVLT has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in vitro and in vivo by inducing apoptosis through inhibition of protein synthesis.
