Description :
6-Chloroisobenzofuran-1(3H)-one is a cyclized, dehydrated, polyphosphoric acid salt of 6-chloroisonicotinic acid. It is also a derivate of benzoic acid and thiophenols. 6-Chloroisobenzofuran-1(3H)-one is used in the synthesis of psychotropic drugs such as benzodiazepines and antipsychotic drugs. It can be synthesized by the reaction of lithium aluminum chloride with chloroform, followed by hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid.
