- Pyrazinoic acid chloride
- Pyrazinoyl chloride
2-Pyrazinecarbonyl chloride is a crystalline ester hydrochloride that belongs to the class of amides. It is an analog of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid, which has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium avium and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 2-Pyrazinecarbonyl chloride inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme pyrazinoic acid synthase, a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of pyrazinoic acid. This compound also has been shown to prevent insulin resistance in diabetic mice and inhibit nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in human macrophages.
