Aflavarin is a secondary metabolite that is produced by the fungus A. flavus. Aflavarin is an inhibitor of protein synthesis and has been shown to be active against other fungal species, such as Fusarium oxysporum, Penicillium patulum, and Aspergillus fumigatus. Aflavarin also inhibits the growth of bacteria and can be used to treat bacterial infections in animals.
