The drug has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy against a variety of bacteria, including Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Legionella pneumophila, Chlamydia pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Zabofloxacin is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations that include hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase or conjugation with glucuronic acid.
