It inhibits the transcriptional regulation of mammalian cells in vitro, and has been shown to inhibit the transport of IAA across the cell membrane. 5-Adamantyl-IAA also binds to specific sites on the enzyme iaaM, which is involved in the biosynthesis of IAA. This binding inhibits the synthesis of IAA, which may be due to an interaction with iaaM.
