1-(3-Methoxy-4-(4-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)ethanone is a potent inhibitor of the adenylate cyclase enzyme. It has been shown to inhibit the peptide hormone vasopressin and to stimulate the release of ACTH. 1-(3-Methoxy-4-(4-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)ethanone has also been shown to have an activating effect on ligand binding at the GABA receptor, with a Kd value of 0.06 micromolar. The compound is used as a research tool in cell biology and pharmacology studies involving protein interactions, receptor binding, ion channels, and antibodies.
