N-Vanillylnonanamide is a fatty acid that belongs to the group of polycarboxylic acids. It has been shown to have a matrix effect on human liver cells and can be used as a control agent for chemical biology experiments. N-Vanillylnonanamide can inhibit the production of prostaglandins by binding to their receptors, thereby reducing the effects of inflammatory reactions such as allergenic reactions. N-Vanillylnonanamide also acts as an ion channel, making it possible for cations to enter the cell. This may contribute to its ability to induce bladder contractions in rats.
