Informations sur le produit
9,9-Diphenyl-9,10-dihydroacridine (DPA) is a fluorescent dye that can be used in electroluminescent devices. It has two phenyl groups and an acridine group. The electron affinities are quite low, but the molecule is thermally activated. DPA is luminescent when it absorbs light of high energy and transfers this energy to an electron in a lower energy level. This electron then jumps to a higher energy level and releases its excess energy as light emission. The ring structure of DPA allows for efficient light emission with minimal quenching of the excited state.
The molecular orbitals of DPA are comprised of a p orbital and three s orbitals, which form an sp3 hybridized system. This system is what gives rise to the emission of fluorescence from DPA's low-energy electrons being promoted to higher-energy levels.
