• Description: 2S-OMPT is a protein that is expressed in the cell. It is involved in transcriptional regulation, and can be assayed using k562 cells. 2S-OMPT has been shown to be associated with cancer. It also increases resistance to chemotherapeutic agents by inhibiting cation channels or inducing apoptosis of leukemia cells. 2S-OMPT may also play an important role in intracellular calcium ion concentrations, as it binds to the extracellular domain of sphingosine kinase and inhibits its activity. This inhibition leads to decreased levels of intracellular calcium ions, which may modulate chemokine production by chemoresistant cancer cells.
