Description :
Methyl 2-chloro-3-oxo-2,3-dihydrothiophene-2-carboxylate is a potent inhibitor of thiophene kinase. It was discovered by screening for inhibitors of the enzyme and has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the activity of a number of other thiophenes that are involved in protein synthesis. Methyl 2-chloro-3-oxo-2,3-dihydrothiophene-2-carboxylate binds to ATP and prevents the formation of an enzyme complex with the thiophene kinase, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis.
