Description

Pyrilamine is a pyridine derivative that is used as an antihistamine. It is orally active and has a dose-dependent effect. Pyrilamine has been shown to inhibit the release of histamine from mast cells and to have an anaphylactic effect in animals. This drug has been synthesized using various synthetic methods, such as the use of isosteres and carboxylic acids. Pyrilamine can be found in medicinal preparations, such as nasal sprays, eye drops, or tablets. It also inhibits the activity of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) by inhibiting membrane lipid synthesis and regulating PMN chemotaxis.
