4-Methyl-3-propoxy-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5(4H)-one is a phenyl triazolinone herbicide that acts as an inhibitor of the plant enzyme acetohydroxy acid synthase. It also has surfactant properties and can be used as a sulfonylurea herbicide. This compound is used to control weeds in cereal crops and wheat. 4-Methyl-3-propoxy 1H1,2,4-triazol 5(4H) - one inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It is also effective against some strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex.
