25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 3-glucuronide is a metabolite of vitamin D3 that is formed in the liver by hydrolysis. It is used as an indicator of vitamin D status in women, and has shown to be associated with cancer resistance. 25-Hydroxydihydrotachysterol 3-glucuronide levels are higher in human serum than other tissues and can be used for sample preparation. The reaction monitoring allows for identification of the precursor ion and product ion. The ovary contains a high concentration of this metabolite, which suggests it may have a function as a prohormone.
