YC-1 is a small molecule that inhibits the activity of cyclase, an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of ATP to cAMP. YC-1 has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells by upregulating HIF-1α and decreasing intracellular Ca2+. It also inhibits the proliferation of hl-60 cells and causes significant cytotoxicity. This drug is a potential anticancer agent due to its ability to inhibit the growth of tumor cells. YC-1 can be used for treatment of oxidative injury, such as balloon injury, since it inhibits oxidative stress-induced apoptosis. It may also be effective as a treatment for α1 subunit signal pathways, which have been implicated in diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
