2-Methylacrylic acid 2-oxo-tetrahydrofuran-3-yl ester is a chemical compound that is used in lithographic printing. It is also used as an intermediate for other chemicals and can be synthesized through the reaction of saccharose, butyrolactone, and water. The chemical formula of this compound is C8H15O2. This compound has been shown to be soluble in solvents such as acetone, tetrahydrofuran, and ethanol. The hydroxyl group on the methyl group allows this compound to catalyze reactions with lipases. This product can be manufactured by immobilizing lipase on a substrate such as silicon or glass.
