Description

Deshydroxyethoxy Ticagrelor is a prodrug of ticagrelor, which is a platelet aggregation inhibitor. Ticagrelor binds to the adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptor on the surface of cells and blocks receptor activity. Deshydroxyethoxy Ticagrelor is an active metabolite of ticagrelor that has been shown to be effective in pediatric patients. The pharmacodynamics of deshydroxyethoxy Ticagrelor are similar to those of ticagrelor, with no significant differences in glomerular filtration rate or other parameters. The drug can cause drug interactions that may lead to an increased risk for bleeding events if used with other anti-platelet drugs such as prasugrel or clopidogrel.
