Cimlanod is a drug that belongs to the group of neurohormonal drugs. It is used for the treatment of high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. Cimlanod binds to soluble guanylate cyclase, which leads to an increase in intracellular cGMP levels. This causes vasodilation and decreases the workload on the heart by relaxing blood vessels and reducing blood pressure. Cimlanod also has haemodynamic effects as it can cause an increase in blood pressure. The drug also has natriuretic properties as it increases sodium excretion from the kidneys, which helps reduce water retention. Cimlanod can be used with other drugs such as ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, or diuretics that have similar effects on vasoconstriction, heart rate, or water balance.
