Thalidomide is a chemical compound with pharmacological properties. It inhibits the activity of protein-tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) and protein-tyrosine kinase 2A (PTK2A). It has been used as a research tool to study the interactions between proteins, as well as in the study of ion channels and antibody production. Thalidomide is also an activator of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DR molecule.
