Description

Avatrombopag is a drug that belongs to the class of thrombopoietin receptor agonists. It stimulates the production of platelets in patients with thrombocytopenia by binding to and activating the thrombopoietin receptor, which is found on the surface of bone marrow cells. Avatrombopag has been shown to be effective in reducing the incidence of bleeding episodes in these patients. The clinical relevance of avatrombopag has been shown using monoclonal antibodies in human and animal studies. There are no known toxic effects associated with avatrombopag treatment, as it does not cross the blood-brain barrier or enter into breast milk.
