Description

Glucofrangulin A is a laxative that has been used in the treatment of constipation. It is chemically classified as an anthraquinone glycoside and has been shown to have genotoxic activity. Glucofrangulin A has laxative properties, which are due to its ability to decrease water absorption by the intestine. Glucofrangulin A was found to be effective in experiments with mice and rats, but not in human studies. Glucofrangulin A also contains sennoside, which is a chemical substance that can induce diarrhea. The laxative effect of Glucofrangulin A is due to its ability to increase peristaltic activity and inhibit the absorption of water from the intestine.
