Description

Bis(2,3-dibromopropoxy)tetrabromobisphenol A is a bisphenol A derivative that has been detected in humans and animals. Bis(2,3-dibromopropoxy)tetrabromobisphenol A is used as a polymerization catalyst to produce polyester polymers. It also has been shown to have toxicological properties such as the ability to cause cancer in vivo and the potential to be absorbed by humans and animals. The uptake of this compound into cells can be inhibited by calcium carbonate or silicon. Further analysis of this substance is needed for its toxicity potential before it can be classified as carcinogenic.
