Description :
Rel-(2R,3S)-piperidine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid is a dicarboxylic acid that has been shown to have excitatory properties. It is an antagonist at the glutamate receptor and has been used in biochemical studies as a model system for glutamate receptors. Rel-(2R,3S)-piperidine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid also shows redox potentials that are similar to those of glutamate, which suggests that it may be involved in the regulation of excitatory amino acids such as glutamate.
