The covalent bonding between this agent and its substrate may be reversible, depending on the pH level of the solution. 3-Bromo-4²-fluorobenzophenone has also been shown to have cytotoxic properties against cancer cells. It is currently being researched as a potential treatment for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
