12-Hydroxy-5(Z),8(Z),10(E),14(Z)-eicosatetraenoic acid (12-HETE) is an analog of arachidonic acid that acts as an inhibitor of several kinases in human cancer cells. It has been shown to have anticancer properties by inhibiting cyclin-dependent kinases and inducing apoptosis in tumor cells. 12-HETE is a potential biomarker for urinary bladder cancer, and its levels are elevated in the urine of patients with this disease. This compound has also been found to be effective against Chinese hamster ovary cells, demonstrating its broad-spectrum activity against cancer cells. The protein kinase inhibitor activity of 12-HETE suggests its potential use as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of various types of cancer.
