Urokinase-type plasminogen activator is a proteolytic enzyme that is used in the treatment of cancer and other diseases. 1H-Indole-6-carboximidamide (1HICA) is an inhibitor of urokinase-type plasminogen activator, which blocks activation of the enzyme by binding to its active site. This inhibition leads to reduced blood clotting and increased bleeding time. 1HICA also has a high affinity for acidic proteins, such as urokinase-type plasminogen activator, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with the protein's amide nitrogen atoms. The inhibition constant for 1HICA binding with urokinase-type plasminogen activator is 10 nM, which indicates that it binds tightly to the enzyme.END>
