Description :1-(4-Iodo-phenyl)-piperazine is a radiopharmaceutical that is used to image the myocardium. It has been radioiodinated with Iodine-123 and has high specific activity, which allows for excellent imaging of the heart. The iodine content in this compound can be used as a measure of myocardial function. 1-(4-Iodo-phenyl)-piperazine has been studied in patients with coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure (CHF). In these studies, it was found to have a low uptake in healthy tissues such as the liver, kidney, and spleen. This agent also does not show any significant uptake in the brain or skeletal muscle.
