Loracarbef is used in the treatment of chronic bronchitis in women and streptococcal pharyngitis. Chemical stability studies have shown that loracarbef monohydrate does not form crystals when mixed with hydrochloric acid or human serum. The compound has been shown to be effective against various strains of bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
