Description

5,7-Dichloro-4-hydroxyquinoline-3-carboxylic acid (5,7-DCQC) is a glycine receptor antagonist that has been shown to be potent and selective for the glycine binding site of the glycine receptor. 5,7-DCQC inhibits the function of the glycine receptor, which is an ionotropic glutamate receptor found in the central nervous system. The affinity of 5,7-DCQC for the glycine binding site is 100 times higher than its affinity for other glutamate receptors. This drug has shown efficacy in animal models against bacterial infections caused by bacteria that produce bactericidal activity.
