Description

Sphinganine-d7 is a fatty acid that is synthesized by the condensation of serine and palmitoyl-CoA. It is a precursor to sphingosine, which is an important component of sphingolipids, glycerophospholipids, and phosphosphingolipids. Sphinganine-d7 has been shown to induce chronic kidney disease in rats by inhibiting the synthesis of insulin-sensitive glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) in muscle tissue. Sphinganine-d7 also induces necrotic cell death and insulin resistance in t2d patients. Sphinganine-d7 can be used for chemical ionization with electron capture detection (EI/EC).
