The elimination rate of praziquantel is slow and it has a concentration-time curve with a long terminal phase, which means that its effects are prolonged. Praziquantel has been shown to have an effect on muscle tissue in vivo studies, but it does not bind to or affect muscle polypeptides. In vitro studies have shown that praziquantel binds primarily to free particles instead of proteins.
