Description

Tabersonine is an indole alkaloid found in the Apocynaceae family. It is a monoterpene indole alkaloid and is structurally similar to meloscandinine and scandine. Tabersonine has been shown to have inhibitory activity on yeast growth, which may be due to its ability to inhibit mitochondrial ATP production. The compound also has antifertility effects in rats, which are mediated by its ability to reduce sperm motility and viability.
