Description

1,2,3,7-Tetramethoxyxanthone is a natural product that has potent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. It was found to be effective against Gram-positive bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus. The optimization of the synthesis of 1,2,3,7-tetramethoxyxanthone was achieved through the use of techniques such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GCMS). This compound also showed potent activity against fatty acids in an assay. Metabolomic analysis revealed that 1,2,3,7-tetramethoxyxanthone contains two isomers: a cis form and trans form.
