Description

Nitroxazepine is a tricyclic antidepressant drug that has specific treatment for symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease. Nitroxazepine is a prodrug that undergoes phase transition to its active form, nitroxazolopiperidine, at body temperature. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of infectious bacteria in animal models and has been used as an adjuvant therapy for bacterial infections. Nitroxazepine is also used to treat autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. Nitroxazepine is metabolized by hydroxylation, which may be related to its toxicity in humans. The drug binds hydrogen bonds and sodium carbonate, which can cause bowel disease when ingested with food or water.
