Diprophylline has been shown to have some toxicity in fetal bovine serum and human serum, although it is less toxic than other drugs such as trifluoroacetic acid. It has been proposed that diprophylline may have therapeutic effects for bowel disease by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines.
