Description

2,3,4,5,6-Pentafluorobenzylhydroxylamine is a derivatizing agent that is used for the detection of anhydrous sodium and other aldehydes. It reacts with carbonyl groups in carboxylic acid derivatives to form esters. 2,3,4,5,6-Pentafluorobenzylhydroxylamine reacts with hydroxyl groups in alcohols to form ethers and undergoes oxidation reactions with aromatic rings to form phenols. The detection sensitivity of this reagent can be increased by using human serum as a matrix. This derivatizing agent has been shown to have toxicological effects such as metabolic disorders in rats and mice. 2,3,4,5,6-Pentafluorobenzylhydroxylamine is also an analytical method used for the determination of methyl ethyl ketones in the presence of a matrix effect.
