Description

Artepillin C is a natural compound that is found in propolis. It has biological properties and is used to treat infectious diseases such as malaria. Artepillin C has been shown to be effective against a variety of bacteria, including Bacillus dracunculifolia, which causes rat bite fever. Artepillin C also has an anti-inflammatory effect and can inhibit the growth of cancer cells by interfering with the mitochondrial membrane potential. The drug binds to the mitochondrial membrane protein voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC), which leads to mitochondrial swelling and permeability transition pore opening.
