Description

2',4'-Dihydroxy-4-methoxydihydrochalcone (2,4-DHMD) is an anti-diabetic compound that has been extracted from the rhizomes of tarragon plants. It is an intraspecific isolate and is chromatographically pure. 2,4-DHMD has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzymes alpha-glucosidase, catalase, and peroxidase. The compound is also bioactive against diploid cells and shows cytotoxic activity against human leukemia cells. 2,4-DHMD also inhibits the expression of genes involved in lipid metabolism and calcium signaling pathways.
