Insolution K-252a is a cell factor that has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of HL60 cells and basic fibroblasts at physiological levels. It is a potent inhibitor of protein kinases, which are enzymes that catalyze reactions involving the transfer of phosphate groups from ATP to other molecules. Insolution K-252a also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species in HL60 cells. This product has been shown to be effective in treating infectious diseases such as hepatitis and leukemia. Insolution K-252a also has inhibitory properties against diabetic neuropathy, inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines and nitric oxide synthase. The inhibition of inflammatory cytokines may be due to the covalent linkages between Insolution K-252a and its receptor molecule.
