Description

Cynatratoside A is a steroidal glycoside that has antiviral activity. It can be extracted from the plant Cynanchum sessiliflorum, which is found in eastern and southern China. Early studies have shown that cynatratoside A has potent antiviral activity against viruses such as HIV-1 and influenza virus in cultured cells. Cynatratoside A also has low energy, which means it does not have a strong effect on the body's ability to produce energy. This extract has been used as a clinical medication for flu and other respiratory illnesses, coughs, and fever. It is also used as a postharvest treatment to control the growth of fungi in crops such as strawberries and grapes.
