Description :(2E)-3-(3,4-dimethylphenyl)prop-2-enoic acid is an organic compound that is used as a building block in organic synthesis. It can be prepared by the reaction of 3,4-dimethylbenzaldehyde with propionic acid. This building block is a precursor to many other compounds, including cinnamic acid and anthranilic acid. The reaction product has been shown to react with tetrahydrofuran under stereoselective conditions to form a dimerization product.
