7-Hydroxy-2',4'-dimethoxyisoflavone is a bioactive flavonoid that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on bone resorption. This compound binds to estrogen receptors and inhibits the production of osteoclasts, cells responsible for bone resorption. 7-Hydroxy-2',4'-dimethoxyisoflavone also has a suppressive effect on the activity of acid phosphatase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes hydrolysis of organic phosphate esters. 7-Hydroxy-2',4'-dimethoxyisoflavone can be found in plants such as Eschscholtzia californica and Tectorigenin.
