Description

Medicarpin-3-acetate is an anticancer agent that belongs to the class of trisubstituted laevorotatory compounds. It has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo, as well as anti-inflammatory properties. Medicarpin-3-acetate has shown anticancer activity against human cell lines and cancer cells in vitro, but it is not active against bacterial strains. This compound also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL1β from human monocytes and macrophages. Medicarpin-3-acetate is a natural product synthesized from plants by the Indian medicinal system Ayurveda. The chemical structure of this compound was determined by chromatographic methods.
